Puzzle Locales

The Kryptos sculpture, outside the American CIA building.  This large cryptogram in bronze was designed to be unsolvable.  But it has been mostly solved.

At Meijer Gardens, in Grand Rapids MI, a horse sculpture that was originally planned for Milan has been built.  Leonardo's original idea was scuttled when the city was attacked.  The Meijer group also gave a copy to Milan.

As you're walking through the gardens to get to the statue you actually see a life-size version of it before you see the big version.  This smaller statue is spectacular in and of itself, and is raised on a pedestal about 2 feet.  It's got a really nice polished feel to it.

As you get closer, a knoll on your right which hides the bigger statue slopes down and you can see both the small one and the big one, and they're positioned so that they look to be the same size.. except one is only 2 yards away while the other is about 50 yards.  Right about then your mind realizes just how incredibly huge this other statue's got to be.. which it is.  An excellent use of perspective.  Leonardo would have liked it.
